Joy to the Days

Image obtained from https://quotesgram.com/quotes-about-relationships-bob-marley/#i5XDhTaYJL

I'm not being emotional, don't worry. It is just an amazing quote I found during one of my visits to the Facebook looking back on my 'on this day' app. This applies to males as well. If he means the world and much more to you, you need to hold on to him and not take him for granted. People have feelings and they need to be treated as humans instead of objects. No matter how many times Kelvin and I may brabble incessantly, deep down we still show affection and love one another.

During my Friday Holiday, I had a glorious time going on a long ass adventure with Bubu and Haresh. We first went to Bangsar Shopping Complex (BSC) and later to Midvalley because Bubu had to buy a PS 4 for his sister's birthday. Unfortunately for us, BSC ran out of PS 4 stocks so we had to battled through the congestion from BSC to Midvalley. All in all, it was a great day because I managed to finally complete my Christmas Shopping for the year.

Later in the evening, I went on to attend Division C Christmas Party at Windmill, Subang Jaya. I attended alone as my President had family matters to attend. Thankfully there were a few familiar faces as well as my District Director, Distinguish Toastmaster Sue Ding.

I adore and respect this woman to death. She's definitely one of my role models in Toastmasters and hopefully I am able to achieve her status as the youngest district director one day.

Santa Claus. Do you know why he's dark? Because he has been climbing down chimneys for the past few years. *ba dum tsss*

On a cozy and breezy Saturday, mom wanted to go for brunch. So I joined her and we went to one of our favorite brunch cafe, Morning Wood, Subang Jaya. Once again the meals never cease to amaze me.

Ozawa. It's basically poach egg wrapped in smoke salmon on top of a muffin bread. Truly delicious and refreshing. The mixed lettuce were fresh as well.

Early in the afternoon, I went back and baked. I decided to spontaneously baked since Friday because I saw a recipe for Cookie Chip Shots and thought it would be rather fun to bake.

My end result. Unfortunately I couldn't find any shots mold for the cookie so I had to improvise and used the back of a baking tray. Cookie turned out better than I expected so far gotten positive comments except the fact that the cookie was a bit sweet.

If any of you are interested, the recipe can be found here

Happy Baking :)

Arrival Gates Part 2

As the journey continues through life, she tries her best to wait patiently for her luggage to arrive. All the while she kept starring at the clock on her phone, wondering if he has gotten worried for her flight was delayed.

Bags passed by but it was all not hers to take. Finally her eyes scanned at a rather large bag. Hurrah! She grabs it quickly and races towards the exit. Heart pounding furiously and vigorously. She rushes through the crowd while holding tightly to her bag.

As she exited the hall, her eyes scanned through the crowd. Searching only for one man in her life that meant the world to her.

At last their eyes locked and met. Embracing and showing affection towards each other. She cried a little all the while looking at him as she couldn't believe this wasn't a dream. Their journey won't end and off they went strolling hand in hand walking towards the magnificent daylight.

Annual Dance and Dinner Event 2015

Over the weekend I had the privilege to travel to Ipoh and spent one night there in conjunction with my company's Annual Dance and Dinner. The first day started with seven of us meeting at Uptown and heading to Ipoh. The drive took us 2 hours and a half. Miraculously I didn't sleep throughout the journey as some of you know, I abruptly become exhausted in car rides.

We could only checked into Weil Hotel at 4.30PM so my female colleagues and I decided to go do our hair. I had mine curled and set which cost RM 45. We then relaxed in Starbucks for a little while before we finally we took our keys and checked in.

I became a pig and slept for a good 20 minutes before reluctantly waking up and getting ready for the event.

The night was eventful, it started off with opening act which consists singing from the Executive Director, Chief Executive Officer and the Finance Head. Followed by opening performance by one of my colleague whom we refer to as CJ. Then dinner was finally served.

I missed out the mushroom with veggie, noddles and dessert picture because I couldn't e bothered after that. Being a typical hotel, the food wasn't as tasty as outside Chinese food.

Along our course, we wee entertained by SHC's got talent performances, lucky draw (which sadly I wasn't chosen) and a thai lady Boi performance. She - or shall I refer to he- did a marvelous job in portraying such a character.

I ended the night by having supper with my colleagues about five minutes walk from the hotel and slept peacefully like a baby.

Truly one of my achievements to be able to wear this dress again after 2 years.

The MT's of SHC -Missing Kiang

My colleagues and CJ's Girlfriend, Tiffany.

The next day, I was woken up by my colleague as we had to checked out the hotel by 12.00pm. After we had checked out, we ate chicken rice at Pak Kong.

Pak Kong - I thought the only dish worth shouting was the roast pork and BBQ pork.

We -being Ipoh tourists- went to queue up like idiots to be kaya puff at Sin Eng Heong. Which we gave up after 30 minutes and decided to go to the newer Sin End Heong to buy kaya puff. We then had our second lunch at Lou Wong chicken rice where we had it with Hor Fun instead.

It has been two eventful days and I'm glad I got to witness my first ever Company Dinner.

Marriage

Image obtained from http://wishestrumpet.com/funny-quotes-about-good-marriage-25702/

So I didn't quite have time to update my blog for the past few weeks. I recently attended two weddings. One was my uncle's and another was my colleague's wedding. Weddings always make me so emotional, to see happily married couples walking down the aisle together is truly a blessing. I also love weddings because of the food!!! Their scrumptious Chinese food and dessert! You can never get anything better than Chinese food! I mean... just take a look at the food below and you will drool yourself wet.

My uncle's wedding theme was shorts. So we all had to dress in shorts. This includes the bride! XD

Some of my colleagues and Ex-colleague :D

On another note, it'll be pretty soon until I see this bubbly guy's face again ^_^

why?

I apologize that today's post will be a bit different. As I sit here starring at the blank page and slowly writing whatever I can think of the one only image that pops into my mind is you.

Are You Alright?
Do you need time off?
Am I a burden to you?

I can't help but feel slightly depress that you think so shallow of me and how I am. Why date me in the first place if you have those thoughts in your mind? Shouldn't I be the one erasing them instead? To boast your confident and trust? Why be with me if you still suspect with great intent on me? Stop doubting me because I'm not your second choice. You either make me your priority or you don't at all.

Hidden Gems

Imaged obtained from http://shesaid.com/pms-diet-fight-cravings/

Today for the first part of this update, I'll be writing a little bit on PMS (Premenstrual syndrome). So fellow male readers, you may all skip this section and scroll down to the later part *Highlighted in blue onward* to avoid this bloody topic

I recently did a horrible, appalling and abominable thing to my boyfriend, Kelvin Wong. That was I threw my frustration on him for no apparent reason. For those who know me, I'm a very empathetic person. So what happened last Thursday was Mr.Wong was jokingly remarking a phrase, I became overly depressed at his comment and took my frustration out of him. After calming down with the help from him, I realized that it was rather silly and foolish of me, also the monthly lady herself paid me a little special visit.

Image obtained from http://www.integrativewellnessgroup.com/nutrition-wellness-blog-nj/2014/8/8/can-anything-be-done-about-your-horrible-pms

So this got me to search up on google 'weirdest cravings during PMS'. Results varied but they were all pretty standard. From wanting sex to food -such as chocolate and carbs- cravings. So i dug furthered on why these cravings occurred.

According to http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/premenstrual-syndrome/basics/definition/con-20020003 :

PMS has many symptoms which includes physical and emotional changes. Some physical changes are breast tenderness, abdominal bloating, fatigue. While emotional changes could vary from depression to joyful as well as food cravings *coughs* boys please watch your girls *coughs*.

Emotional changes and food cravings are said to be due to low level of serotonin in the brain -which is a feel good chemical that the brain needs. One of my weirdest cravings from what I remembered was needing to eat spicy food for one whole week. Since then, I haven't had any other weird cravings besides wanting sugary food.

For those of you who skipped the first section, this will be a bloody free topic for now. We all know Gen Y loves spending money due to the unlimited entertainment we have. I came across an article about a debt perspective. It was quite an interesting read and I learned a thing or two from reading the article. It may be a long read but it is actually quite interesting and I assure you it isn't as boring as it sounds.

Today mom and I went to have brunch at Bofe cafe at SS 19 (near SS 2). It was a new brunch discovery and I have to say I am very delighted to have been introduced by sis on this place. Before you enter the cafe, on the door you will be greeted with a sign saying 'This is not a place for diet'.

We were seated immediately and given two menus. They have various food selections ranging from breakfast to meats, burgers and pastas. I ordered a smoked salmon sandwich -which comes with chips- while mom ordered a Dubious Duck.

Smoke Salmon Sandwich. I truly enjoyed this dish because the salmon was fresh and scrambled eggs were cooked just perfectly. I'm not quite sure what bread they used but I have a hunch it was bruschetta. The bread was well toasted. I love how they weren't stingy with their rockets and chips as sides.
(RM 16.90)

Dubious Duck. The salad was tasteless but if you add the sauce from the duck on to the salad it taste quite good. The duck confit was cooked tenderly though it was a bit tiny. (RM 21.90)

The ambience was cozy and relaxing. Despite it being an air conditioned cafe, I love how it wasn't too cold and freezing. The service was superb as well with them serving water on our table without us asking. They were fast, efficient and friendly.

Overall enjoyed this new hidden gem and I urged you all to definitely give this cafe a try.

Time waits for no one, so use your time wisely

Today as I productively started my day by heading the gym, washing my car and buying necessary working clothing, I headed to Pacific Coffee store to get a Mocha and relaxed while reading my book. It didn't hit me as hard as today where I realize this book is exceptionally addictive and practical to my everyday life. It may bore some of you because it isn't an ordinary fairy tale or fiction book, it is a self reflecting book.

I know right? Why read such a book when I don't have problems? Well, it is good knowledge and I believe the ones whom condemned, criticized or as they say it 'judge a book by its cover' without even reading it are the ones whom should start reading it first.

Image taken from https://arbinger.com/book/

So just a brief introduction of this book. As I mentioned earlier it is a Self reflection Book. I received it from my company by attending the workshop 2 months ago. I have to say as I'm trying my best to convince you all to read this book, I myself am a victim of my own judgement. I thought that this book would be of no use to my life especially my work life. I have a great starting job, a family that loves me, a loving partner and friends whom supported me, why should I waste my time in reading such a nonsensical book?

It started only just a week ago when I decided to lower my ego and give this book a chance. An hour goes by and I found myself flipping through the pages effortlessly. Each page left me wanting to read more.

It describes how people are all self-betrayals (being in the box) in our own way and we invite others to follow us.
It gives you examples and stories of how this self-betrayals can be a threat to your own life.
It explains the theory of why this happens and how we, as humans, can overcome our own betrayals.

I truly enjoyed this book. Though the content was a bit on the raw side, it was the first ever self reflection book I have ever read and I enjoyed it immensely.

I went on to do a bit more research on this content and stumbled upon big 5 personalities of a human. These personalities are explaining that each and every individual are only made up from this 5 personalities. Wikipedia explains it in a very simple manner where these 5 personalities can be sum up in one word OCEAN.

O - Openness (Reflects the degree of intellectual curiosity, creativity and a preference of novertly and variety a person has)
High openness can be perceived as unpredictable and unfocused. Low openness people are pragmatic and data-driven, sometimes perceived to be dogmatic and closed-minded.

C - Conscientiousness (Tendency to be organized and dependable)
High conscientiousness often perceived as stubborn and obsessive. Low conscientiousness are flexible and spontaneous, but can be perceived as sloppy and unreliable

E - Extraversion (Sociability and tendency to seek stimulation in the company of others)
High extraversion is often perceived as attention-seeking, and domineering. Low extraversion causes a reserved, reflective personality, which can be perceived as aloof or self-absorbed

A - Agreeableness (Tendency to be compassionate and cooperative)
High agreeableness is often seen as naive or submissive. Low agreeableness personalities are often competitive or challenging people, which can be seen as argumentative or untrustworthy

N - Neuroticism (Tendency to experience unpleasant emotions)
A high need for stability manifest as stable and calm personality, but can be seen as uninspiring and unconcerned. A low need for stability causes a reactive and excitable personality, often very dynamic individuals, but they can be perceived as unstable or insecure

Image obtained from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goosebumps_(film)

Last Friday mom and I went to watched Goosebumps. It was more of a comedy/family movie rather than a horrifying one. The only monster I remembered from Goosebumps was Slappy the -sorry slappy- Dummy. Kudos to Jack Black for being such a great actor in this movie. Before I knew it, an hour and a half flew by and the movie was over. It was an interesting movie to me, but I wouldn't have gone to the cinema to watch it.

As explained by Jack Black, every story needs 3 main elements:
1) The Beginning
2) The Body
3) The twist/suspends

So as I wrap up today's thought of the day, stay tune for more updates as you will never know what life has plans for you.

Baby Boomers, Gen Y & Gen Z

I have been graciously asked to be a table topic master for Money & You for their meeting on 2/11. Their topic of the day would be Baby Boomers VS Gen X/Y. I was scratching my head figuring out the differences between all the generations. According to Googles

Baby Boomers are babies born between 1946 - 1964
Gen X are babies born between 1960 to early 1980s
Gen Y are babies born between 1980s to early 2000s
Gen Z are babies born afters 2000s

So all these generations have definite characters that characterize them into their specific group. I for one am a Gen Y baby. I can say majority of Gen Y people hate being told to do one specific task in their job. Hence I guess the term Management Trainee came about because the trainees are rotated between various departments. We constantly need to move around and we can't stick to a particular task for the rest of our lives. We are also known as the spending generation with new brunch places and unlimited entertainments, what's there to stop our spending? Well, so long as Gen Y do not peculate their spending and know when is their limit I don't see a big Hoo Ha in that.

Today mom and I went to Nandos for lunch and we ordered a chicken skewer. We both thought it was a bit dry but thankfully the beans and fries were delicious.

Cute little Monster Cake in Cake Sense!

We had dinner at Maria's Steak at Damansara Perdana. Mom and I shared a Medium Rare Wagyu 7. It was delicious! I can say this is one of the better steak house I have been to in PJ and I would gladly return to this place again. *Note my happy face from gobbling down the steak*
I received one of the sweetest compliments from Kelvin Wong. He has always made me ebullient despite my down days.

Some of you might know that I completed my Competent Communicator last month. I officially received the certificate last Friday and it was a jubilant moment for me. To more amazing journeys and achievements!

A trip to the saloon

It was a lovely, and not so hazey Sunday afternoon. After I had finished my gym session I decided it was time to cut part of my hair. It was becoming too long and split ends were noticeable. So off I went to Paradigm Mall to find a saloon name Top Passion -introduced by my mom.

I was hunting high and low for the shop as I couldn't find it. Eventually I gave in and had to turn to the directory for help. Thankfully my sense of direction was not terrible and I managed to reach the saloon. It was just a regular haircut and wash for that day. Honestly, I felt perturbed because I had had a few bad hair cuts before. Today was definitely not one of those days for a terrible hair cut. So I prayed with all my might that my haircut would go smoothly today.

After roughly an hour and seeing my strands of hair on the floor, my hair cut was finally done. Fortunately for me, I love it! It was exactly the length I wanted and it definitely felt lighter than before. Also, the hair cut and wash was only RM50.90!!!!

Thank you Top Passion!

Yesterday I miraculously found my direction towards OUM toastmasters. It was quite a difficult journey as I don't drive in KL. I was invited as one of their speech evaluators for the day. I also managed to win Best Table Topic Speaker. Woot Woot!

As I end my post for today, I'm sure there was a point in our life that we felt betrayed, used or deceived. I'm here to tell you that no matter what happens, you need to move on. Never let some one ruin your mood for the day or bring you down because that's not who you are. You are definitely stronger and more worthy than that. My toastmaster members have last minute pulled out from their roles ceaselessly week after week and it makes me tired.

Yes you have been betrayed
Yes you have been used
Yes you have been deceived.

So what? I know how to handle these situations now and I thank those whom have pulled me down or made me feel as though I'm not worthy in my life. The most important lesson is never give up!

Image taken from http://inspiration.allwomenstalk.com/most-inspiring-quotes-from-albert-einstein-to-help-you-get-back-on-your-feet/2

We are all genius at heart. Sometimes we need to be bold and brave to let go of the loose and split ends of our hair and adapt new lessons and journeys in our life.

Life is full of Surprises

Today a colleague taught a meaningful lesson in life. There are three kinds urgency in life.

Those are:
1) Urgent but not important
2) Urgent AND important
3) Not Urgent but important

It's amazing what lesson life brings to you everyday. I recently took a personality test online as well. I obtained the following results:

Your personality type: “The Entertainer” (ESFP-A)

Strength of individual traits: Extraverted: 17%, Observant: 9%, Feeling: 49%, Prospecting: 14%, Assertive: 17%.

Role: Explorer

Strategy: People Mastery

To sum up, I am a people person and I bring life to everyone around me. I am the person who can apparently calm a tense situation and have the ability to empathize with people. Hence the entertainer for people. Though it mentioned that I can be taken advantage due to the emotions i portray to people. It also says I can be sensitive at times due to my emotional trait and I will avoid conflicts at all cause. I'm also a terrible planner as I hate planner and just go with the flow. Well I guess that's where Kelvin Wong comes in :)

It doesn't matter what a test says, be yourself no matter what

Last Friday, my company had a break the code event.

The bubbly team C1. Despite not escaping the room in time, we felt contempt and certainly had fun.

Of outings and a thought

Image obtained from: http://my.openrice.com/klangvalley/article/10-must-try-restaurants-in-kepong-part-1/490

In conjunction with dad's birthday, sis and I decided to buy him dinner. We decided to head to restaurant Pak Thong as it was a very decent place for dinner.

Side Track: I'm truly disappointed with the government of my country. There has been denial over and over again that the RM 1.2 billion 'donation' was not peculate whatsoever by the PM. However, is this really the case? We all know that this isn't true yet there isn't any prove to support the claim. I just hope for the sake of the country, it will be resolve. I always believe in karma and I do hope one day Malaysia will rise again with a strong currency. If not, we can kiss our 2020 goal goodbye.

Team C1: DUISB + Joee. We participated in Break the Code event last Friday. Unfortunately my team didn't manage to finish the room within an hour. It was still a fun experience but I wouldn't pay so much just to play it again.

Achievements in life

Only those who dare to fail greatly can achieve greatly - Robert F.Kennedy

A very motivating quote for the upcoming Monday. Not to worry, as Wednesday is a public holiday for Malaysia!

A very pleasant and lovely greeting to you, reader.

On 28/9, I managed to finally complete my Competent Communication Manual from Toastmasters. So I officially have a CC title in Toastmasters now. It indeed has been a fruit fulling journey to complete my CC speech and meet new people along my journey. My journey doesn't end here though as I still have Advanced Communicator title to achieve!

Thank you Ms.President, Anna Chin for presenting me the title :)

Over the weekend, I managed to finally caught up with one of my friend whom I've known since college. We went to Mr & Ms cafe at Ara Damansara. To my excitement, there were new dishes in their menu. One of the dish was Fried Portobello Mushrooms.

This dish was AMAZEBALLZ. I honestly thought the fried mushrooms and hash brown would be too much, but the hollandaise eggs acts as a contrast to the oily food.

A tiny dedication to one of the most important guy -Next to my father- in my life. One of our many achievements to be doing long distance isn't it? Hehe. Looking forward to seeing you soon ^_^

sentidos

Because my dad won't be around or his official birthday, we decided to celebrate it today at sentidos. We had our unlimited supply of buffet style food and drinks from 8p.m-10p.m. Needless to say, we were beaten by the table next to us whom were seated by 6 girls.

Overall buffet was worth it with unlimited supply of tapas food and alcohol for 108++ per person. We gobbled our food and grizzled down our drinks for the first one hour and decided to take it slow and easy for the next hour.

The main dishes, meatball, lamb chops, chicken wings, potato and vegetable skewers. I truly enjoyed the chicken wings the most. The sauce for the lamb chop was a bit pepprish in my opinion.

Le candid shot by mom. I'm so proud of her for doing such a great job!

Till then readers!
