Redang Trip

Let me just start by saying this trip was a good trip for a short getaway. For a 3 day 2 night trip it was full of sleeping, eating and pretty much just lazing about.

My face before Breakfast. I had to wake up at 4am to catch the 6.30am flight.

Now this is the face after breakfast was served haha.

The amazing View of the beach.

One of the nights, we had dinner at a restaurant called the brasserie in The Taaras Resort. The food there was delicious. Thought service was lacking a little.

Pan smeared scallops for starters

Grilled Tiger Prawns for mains

Chocolate Foundant & Panna Cotta for dessert

Teaching mom how to do a beesh face. She failed miserably.

Hi there. Just showing off my hard work to you, Kelvin Wong! :D

Overall, the resort was wonderful but I wouldn't rate it a 5 star hotel. The service was lacking a little. One scenario that my mom and I encountered was flies above a cake which was left uncovered during our dinner buffet. My mom informed the waitress but all she did was shooed the flies away and left the cake there. I gagged at anyone who take the cake and ate it... Also when we were checking out, the manager started yelling at the staff whom was attending us. However I felt that the staff handled it quite well but asking the manager to hold on. I really felt that working there would have been stressful.

Till then! On a side note, new job starts tomorrow!!!

In Memory

Hey readers, I am back and blogging about life again. Today I manage to have time to bake a triple choc brownie from Tasty Website. It turned out not too bad actually so I'm quite happy with it. my brownies were slightly more wet because I speculate that it was due to the chocolate chips melted in such an excruciating temperature.

Recipe can be found at:

Over the weekends, Phoenix Toastmaster Club founder, Albert Chua passed away peaceful. It was a devastating day to hear such a news. One memory that I remembered from him is he giving me advice on my Vice President Educational role in Phoenix as well as tips on Toastmasters Contest. We will miss him so dearly.

We will miss you dearly Albert!

Can Ex be friends?

Image obtained from http://www.dailymanliness.com/how-to-get-over-a-breakup/

A couple of days back while I got to opportunity to be a judge at one of a toastmaster event. My ex suddenly dropped a message and asked if we could be friends.

Normally under any circumstances I would have agreed to be his friend. However, this is completely different in a sense that I was already in a serious relationship with my current bf. So my question is, can Ex remain friends?

As I was younger and slightly immature, I used to think that everyone would be friends even if you have ended things with your other half. However over the years and especially through opinions from my partner and friends, I came to realize that is only possible IF:
1) Both parties outgrew each other
2) Both parties ended it mutually
3) It wasn't a serious relationship

Having said that, not being friends with your ex doesn't meant you still have feelings for them. It's just you need to respect your life and especially your current relationship.

There are many different type of friend in this world. Occasionally, you may drop a hi or season greetings with your ex but nothing more. Scrap the talking and meeting on a regular basis because that is never going to happen.

So for my answer,  NO it is not possible to be friends with your ex whom you once had a serious relationship with. Not only does it abominate your current relationship, but you might complicate your life as well.

The Journey Continues

Is it too late to update? Haha I know I've been missing in action for donkey's years but I'm back because my beloved one encouraged and coerced me to continue writing this blog. Thus I shall.

I have to honestly thank this special person for always believing in me and being there for me in whatever I do in my life. With his constant encouragement and patience, it's no wonder we're like fireworks exploding into the night sky.

We recently past our 20th monthsary together. I know it might not mean much to some but for me it's a huge achievement. Despite us loving through distance, we're always there for each other.

I participated in International Speech and Table Topic Contest for Phoenix Toastmasters on the 28/2/2016. I didn't manage to win speech but got runner up for table topic contest. It was indeed a great experience in terms of overcoming an obstacle of speaking in front of strangers and able to differentiate between the experienced speakers.

This amazing woman came down to KL for a short trip. So I had the utmost privilege to visit her and take her around KL. Jen joined us after for drinks. I've known them sine Trinity years and it's so nice to know that we haven't changed one bit.

Lastly, I have to emphasis on this brunch cafe, Yellow Brick Road at Jalan Batai, Bukit Damansara. I've been there twice and on both occasions I still love their food. The fact that they are extremely generous with the portion and flavour blows me away. I urge everyone to give this cafe a try, a word of warning is you either go before 10.30am or after 1.00pm.

Anger Issues

As i commenced my second day working, I encountered a rather hot-tempered and not understanding customer. I realize that you can never run away from negative people. Be it work or your personally life with friends and loved ones.

As I finished entertaining this particular customer. I received a call from one of my bank regarding my credit card application. So I had to provide fresh, recent documents which made me quite upset as I had requested the card since 2 months ago but they took the liberty of processing it slow and late.

I was rather ticked off and infuriated with the reason that they gave me. At that moment I thought to my self, I could either be:

a) An exceptionally difficult customer towards them and argue with them

OR

b) A cooperative customer and provide them with documents as per request

I usually don't go for option (A) as I'm genuinely a nice, empathetic and understanding person. However, because of the unfortunate situation that I encountered earlier, I was heading more towards the option (A) side.

Fortunately for me, I still had a bit of Ee Wen left in me. So I calmed down, took a deep breath, and told them I would provide them. But I also did mention that I had applied way earlier and it wasn't my fault.

What I'm trying to say is that don't let negativity bring you down. Surround yourself with people and I definitely have my colleagues, lover and family to do that for me whenever I have a bad day.

Resolutions

Happy New Year Short Quotes
Image obtained from http://www.picsymag.com/quotes/new-year-quotes-for-2016/

As we all embarked on a new year, some of us may have new resolutions in mind. Some may want to continue previous resolutions and some may not even believe in resolutions.

I believe in resolutions, but I also believe that we shouldn't forget old ones. If you have achieved your goal in keeping fit in 2015, continue that habit and make it habitual. I'm more of a life goal person, so usually I would remember my achievements and bring it forward to practice and enhance it further.

One of my life goal starting this year is to write a book. It doesn't need to be famous and receive publishing, but I want to write it to train my creativity brain and practice on my writing skills.

So one method in achieving this is to definitely write and update my blog frequently. Which I am trying my best effort in doing so. It won't be easy but I do love challenges once in a while.

Hello from the Other Sideeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Greetings readers, some of you may have know that my absence was due to the fact that I had gone to Australia for roughly 3 weeks.

My trip was amazing, though I would suggest tourists to not go around December month as it is relatively quiet due to Christmas and New Year's Holiday. Also, keep in mind that although it said to be summer in December, they lie!!! It was only oven baked temperature the first day I touched down, but other than that it was between 16-20 degrees.

Besides stuffing ourselves with food -my boyfriend is an expert in doing so- we traveled out of Melbourne CBD to Yarra Valley. It was such an amazing experience but do keep in mind to booked for the winery restaurants as it gets packed pretty quickly and you'll find yourself being rejected from having lunch over there.

Two restaurants that I must mentioned in Yarra Valley is definitely Hargreaves Hill, Yarra Glen and Meletos, Coldstream. Kelvin and I both agreed that these two places are a definite must try when you are visiting Yarra Valley with your own transport. Also if you are a fan of sparkling shiraz, we bought ours from Blagownie Estate. The accommodation in Balgownie was also divine and exquisite.
To sum up my trip, I had a tremendous trip over there celebrating my boyfriend's birthday at Rock Pool, Christmas gift exchange, watching New Year fireworks and celebrating our monthsary at Yarra Valley. Not to forget the amazing coffee in Melbourne is to die for.

The boy surprised me with flowers when I touched down ^_^

I love it when he always helps me take picture and never complains <3

We being silly and nerdy

To my love, thank you so much and hello from the other side :3
