Baby Boomers, Gen Y & Gen Z

I have been graciously asked to be a table topic master for Money & You for their meeting on 2/11. Their topic of the day would be Baby Boomers VS Gen X/Y. I was scratching my head figuring out the differences between all the generations. According to Googles

Baby Boomers are babies born between 1946 - 1964
Gen X are babies born between 1960 to early 1980s
Gen Y are babies born between 1980s to early 2000s
Gen Z are babies born afters 2000s

So all these generations have definite characters that characterize them into their specific group. I for one am a Gen Y baby. I can say majority of Gen Y people hate being told to do one specific task in their job. Hence I guess the term Management Trainee came about because the trainees are rotated between various departments. We constantly need to move around and we can't stick to a particular task for the rest of our lives. We are also known as the spending generation with new brunch places and unlimited entertainments, what's there to stop our spending? Well, so long as Gen Y do not peculate their spending and know when is their limit I don't see a big Hoo Ha in that.

Today mom and I went to Nandos for lunch and we ordered a chicken skewer. We both thought it was a bit dry but thankfully the beans and fries were delicious.

Cute little Monster Cake in Cake Sense!

We had dinner at Maria's Steak at Damansara Perdana. Mom and I shared a Medium Rare Wagyu 7. It was delicious! I can say this is one of the better steak house I have been to in PJ and I would gladly return to this place again. *Note my happy face from gobbling down the steak*
I received one of the sweetest compliments from Kelvin Wong. He has always made me ebullient despite my down days.

Some of you might know that I completed my Competent Communicator last month. I officially received the certificate last Friday and it was a jubilant moment for me. To more amazing journeys and achievements!

A trip to the saloon

It was a lovely, and not so hazey Sunday afternoon. After I had finished my gym session I decided it was time to cut part of my hair. It was becoming too long and split ends were noticeable. So off I went to Paradigm Mall to find a saloon name Top Passion -introduced by my mom.

I was hunting high and low for the shop as I couldn't find it. Eventually I gave in and had to turn to the directory for help. Thankfully my sense of direction was not terrible and I managed to reach the saloon. It was just a regular haircut and wash for that day. Honestly, I felt perturbed because I had had a few bad hair cuts before. Today was definitely not one of those days for a terrible hair cut. So I prayed with all my might that my haircut would go smoothly today.

After roughly an hour and seeing my strands of hair on the floor, my hair cut was finally done. Fortunately for me, I love it! It was exactly the length I wanted and it definitely felt lighter than before. Also, the hair cut and wash was only RM50.90!!!!

Thank you Top Passion!

Yesterday I miraculously found my direction towards OUM toastmasters. It was quite a difficult journey as I don't drive in KL. I was invited as one of their speech evaluators for the day. I also managed to win Best Table Topic Speaker. Woot Woot!

As I end my post for today, I'm sure there was a point in our life that we felt betrayed, used or deceived. I'm here to tell you that no matter what happens, you need to move on. Never let some one ruin your mood for the day or bring you down because that's not who you are. You are definitely stronger and more worthy than that. My toastmaster members have last minute pulled out from their roles ceaselessly week after week and it makes me tired.

Yes you have been betrayed
Yes you have been used
Yes you have been deceived.

So what? I know how to handle these situations now and I thank those whom have pulled me down or made me feel as though I'm not worthy in my life. The most important lesson is never give up!

We are all genius at heart. Sometimes we need to be bold and brave to let go of the loose and split ends of our hair and adapt new lessons and journeys in our life.

Life is full of Surprises

Today a colleague taught a meaningful lesson in life. There are three kinds urgency in life.

Those are:
1) Urgent but not important
2) Urgent AND important
3) Not Urgent but important

It's amazing what lesson life brings to you everyday. I recently took a personality test online as well. I obtained the following results:

Your personality type: “The Entertainer” (ESFP-A)

Strength of individual traits: Extraverted: 17%, Observant: 9%, Feeling: 49%, Prospecting: 14%, Assertive: 17%.

Role: Explorer

Strategy: People Mastery

To sum up, I am a people person and I bring life to everyone around me. I am the person who can apparently calm a tense situation and have the ability to empathize with people. Hence the entertainer for people. Though it mentioned that I can be taken advantage due to the emotions i portray to people. It also says I can be sensitive at times due to my emotional trait and I will avoid conflicts at all cause. I'm also a terrible planner as I hate planner and just go with the flow. Well I guess that's where Kelvin Wong comes in :)

It doesn't matter what a test says, be yourself no matter what

Last Friday, my company had a break the code event.

The bubbly team C1. Despite not escaping the room in time, we felt contempt and certainly had fun.

Of outings and a thought

Image obtained from: http://my.openrice.com/klangvalley/article/10-must-try-restaurants-in-kepong-part-1/490

In conjunction with dad's birthday, sis and I decided to buy him dinner. We decided to head to restaurant Pak Thong as it was a very decent place for dinner.

Side Track: I'm truly disappointed with the government of my country. There has been denial over and over again that the RM 1.2 billion 'donation' was not peculate whatsoever by the PM. However, is this really the case? We all know that this isn't true yet there isn't any prove to support the claim. I just hope for the sake of the country, it will be resolve. I always believe in karma and I do hope one day Malaysia will rise again with a strong currency. If not, we can kiss our 2020 goal goodbye.

Team C1: DUISB + Joee. We participated in Break the Code event last Friday. Unfortunately my team didn't manage to finish the room within an hour. It was still a fun experience but I wouldn't pay so much just to play it again.

Achievements in life

Only those who dare to fail greatly can achieve greatly - Robert F.Kennedy

A very motivating quote for the upcoming Monday. Not to worry, as Wednesday is a public holiday for Malaysia!

A very pleasant and lovely greeting to you, reader.

On 28/9, I managed to finally complete my Competent Communication Manual from Toastmasters. So I officially have a CC title in Toastmasters now. It indeed has been a fruit fulling journey to complete my CC speech and meet new people along my journey. My journey doesn't end here though as I still have Advanced Communicator title to achieve!

Thank you Ms.President, Anna Chin for presenting me the title :)

Over the weekend, I managed to finally caught up with one of my friend whom I've known since college. We went to Mr & Ms cafe at Ara Damansara. To my excitement, there were new dishes in their menu. One of the dish was Fried Portobello Mushrooms.

This dish was AMAZEBALLZ. I honestly thought the fried mushrooms and hash brown would be too much, but the hollandaise eggs acts as a contrast to the oily food.

A tiny dedication to one of the most important guy -Next to my father- in my life. One of our many achievements to be doing long distance isn't it? Hehe. Looking forward to seeing you soon ^_^

sentidos

Because my dad won't be around or his official birthday, we decided to celebrate it today at sentidos. We had our unlimited supply of buffet style food and drinks from 8p.m-10p.m. Needless to say, we were beaten by the table next to us whom were seated by 6 girls.

Overall buffet was worth it with unlimited supply of tapas food and alcohol for 108++ per person. We gobbled our food and grizzled down our drinks for the first one hour and decided to take it slow and easy for the next hour.

The main dishes, meatball, lamb chops, chicken wings, potato and vegetable skewers. I truly enjoyed the chicken wings the most. The sauce for the lamb chop was a bit pepprish in my opinion.

Le candid shot by mom. I'm so proud of her for doing such a great job!

Till then readers!
